met in New York in 1974 where they worked for a
alternative newspaper published by a service organization called Everything for
Everybody. They co-founded a publishing company in Hattiesburg, Mississippi in the late 1970s and published, in succession, a weekly newspaper, a monthly magazine and a quarterly art and literary journal. They moved to Olympia, Washington in 1988
and began offering their services in web design and graphic arts in 1995.
They started the publishing division,
ClaytonWorks Publishing, after publishing Alec's first novel in
2000.

Alec is a freelance writer, artist and novelist. He writes a weekly theater
column for The News Tribune (Tacoma, Washington) and weekly art reviews for the
Volcano (Tacoma), and regular art features for Art Access in Seattle. His
paintings are regularly shown in galleries in the Pacific Northwest. He has a
Masters degree in drawing and painting from East Tennessee State University. |

Gabi's undergraduate studies were in drawing and painting, film, video and animation. She completed her Bachelor's degree at The Evergreen State College and her Masters degree in counseling at St. Martin's College
(now University). She is a web designer, graphic designer, editor, and a licensed mental health
counselor in private practice. |
